The writer and show runner for Doctor Who as well as Sherlock won the top prize at the Writers’ Guild award, earning himself the special award for outstanding writing and quite rightly so. If you’re wondering why Moffat was given this award, you only have to watch episodes such as The Eleventh Hour or The Wedding of River Song to realise.
Some other familiar Doctor Who-related faces also got themselves a prize, Toby Whithouse’s Being Human won the TV drama series category and his entire writing team were declared the winners. Phil Ford grabbed the win for best children’s TV script with The Sarah Jane Adventures episode The Curse of Clyde Langer which marks a wonderful coda to a wonderful TV series.
Overall, this means that we continue to have some of the best writers in the business that constantly work on Doctor Who, giving us one of the most powerful shows on television.
Here’s to next year’s awards and congratulations to all involved!
